RWM26: Qlubija

In Maltese the word Qlubija is rooted in the Semitic word for "Heart." This connects beautifully to the Romantic roots of the English word "Courage" (Cor), bringing us to the heart as a vital space.

 For Refugee Week Malta 2026, we are moving from highlighting "struggle" to highlighting “strength”. We want to look closely at the daily commitment to upholding rights and the radical act of simply being oneself. In this space, survival and resilience are inextricably intertwined.

 

We believe Courage has the potential to be contagious. When one person stands up, it ripples outwards, providing a "breath of support" for others to do the same. This shared purpose allows us to grow together, transforming an individual act into a collective movement.
