Why is Refugee Week Malta important?

Regine Nguini from African Media Association Malta has partnered with Refugee Week Malta for the 2025 edition of the festival. As part of this collaboration, she is producing a series of Vox Pops reflecting this year’s theme: Community as a Superpower.

In the second episode of the series, Regine speaks with three influential members of the Maltese community who share their insights on the importance and relevance of Refugee Week in Malta:

• President Emeritus Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, speaking on the plight of unaccompanied minors and children on the move.

• Christian Okyere, highlighting the intersection of homelessness and migration policy.

• Christine Cassar, advocating for the dignity and rights of second-generation asylum seekers.
